Our Services
We offer a wide range of services to support the APS workforce in building their APS Craft.
A networked model approach
The APS Academy is a hub of learning and development. We work with the APS, academia and industry partners to build the capability of the APS workforce. We focus on uplifting capability in the areas of Craft domains, partnering with agencies through a networked model approach which means we utilise the expertise that already exists in the APS to deliver quality learning experiences.
We focus on connecting agencies together, leveraging expertise of others, sharing information and collaborating to scale learning offerings from across the APS.
We partner with external specialists, such as academics, the private sector and tertiary sector for APS people to undertake unaccredited and credited learning. Some examples are Microcredentials and APS Academy Campuses.
We work with other APS learning academies who specialise in specific areas of expertise, including, DFAT’s Diplomatic Academy, the Services Australia Academy and the National Intelligence Academy. We promote their offerings through our networks and can connect you to their services.
Importantly we also take guidance from senior practitioner groups including the APS Academy Faculty and APS Learning Board.
Sharing and reusing learning experiences
We value collaboration and efficiency, which is why we focus on sharing high-quality learning experiences already in use across the APS. The APS Learning Bank, serves as a repository of curated learning experiences available for reuse by agencies. Additionally, we support agencies using and Acorn Learning Manage System by enabling integration with APSLearn through the APS Partner Content feature.

Evaluation Hub
The Academy is expanding its service offer for L&D evaluation support in 2025. This will include training opportunities for L&D practitioners, evaluation consulting services, and opportunities for partnerships/pilots. The Academy will also continue to provide peer-to-peer learning opportunities like L&D Community of Practice meet-ups and monthly ‘Evaluate Connect’ meetings. To connect with us, contact APSlearningevaluation@apsc.gov.au.
The Academy also manages the Learning Evaluation Resource Hub, which has been created to support L&D teams across the APS to evaluate their activities more efficiently and effectively. It includes practical guides and templates as well as case studies showcasing APS agency practices. The Hub will be hosted on GovTeams from February 2025, which is also where the L&D Community of Practice and HR Profession are currently hosted.
