Impact Analysis 101
Overview
The Office of Impact Analysis (OIA) has authored a resource called Impact Analysis 101, created specifically for policy makers. It is a series of animations and resources answering common questions on the Australian Government’s impact analysis process.
Each time a proposal is brought forward to the Prime Minister, Cabinet, or a decision-making forum, Government expects it to be backed by solid evidence considering whole of Government and broader societal and economic impacts.
This evidence is established through impact analysis – a Government requirement and an important part of the policy makers’ toolkit. It ensures decision makers have confidence that proposed policies are supported by the best analysis available and are well-designed, well-targeted and fit-for-purpose.
In all departments and agencies across the APS, policy teams work with OIA on impact analysis for new policy proposals.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with OBPR at the helpdesk-OIA@pmc.gov.au or (02) 6271 6270, if you have any questions, or are interested in accessing OIA’s training and support.
