By the APS Professions
The APS professions model is a comprehensive capability building initiative aimed at enhancing specialist skills and expertise across the APS. The model was launched in late 2019 with the establishment of three APS professions to focus on building capability in digital, data and strategic HR.
The APS Professions focus on attracting, developing, retaining and deploying specialist capabilities within the public service, addressing the fierce competition for talent and the evolving nature of our work. This initiative not only uplifts current capabilities but also lays the foundation for long-term improvements.
Building on the success of the Digital, Data and HR Professions, we have launched 3 new APS Professions to continue uplifting APS workforce capability in critical areas.
The new APS Professions are:
- procurement and contract management
- evaluation
- complex project management.
APS Professions are a crucial component of our learning eco-system and support an unwavering commitment to continuous learning and development, ensuring the APS remains at the forefront of public service excellence. The model continues to evolve, ensuring APS capability aligns with the expectations of the Australian people.
The new professions will help staff develop expertise in high-demand areas and provide exciting new pathways for career growth and advancement in the APS.
All staff are encouraged to explore these new opportunities and consider how they can contribute to a vibrant and evolving public service.
