Crafting Inclusive Policy for Gender Equality
This post-graduate microcredential is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to engage in gender analysis across various public policy fields. Participants will gain a deep understanding of concepts and methodologies to identify and address the differential impact of policies and their funding on men, women and those identifying as non-binary, and will also adopt an intersectional approach. The focus will be on making gender visible in public policy processes and outcomes, challenging the assumption of gender neutrality, and promoting social and economic equality for all.
This 50-hour virtual program is delivered on the UNSW Navigator platform, where you will have a mixture of self-paced learning to work through each week, plus facilitated workshops where you'll learn from experts, participate in robust conversations and group activities with your peers. The weekly learning consists of reading through rich learning materials, participating in discussion and reflective tasks, completing quizzes and contributing to your course project.
You will learn in a supportive and psychologically safe environment and are expected to be respectful towards your peers. Discussions may be challenging at times, but will occur within a safe environment. You will be expected to undertake the course with an open and curious mindset.
This course has been co-designed by the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the APS Academy, in conjunction with practitioners from the Office for Women (PM&C) and other agencies.
Participant benefits
- Explain the policy and legislative frameworks that impact on gender equality in the Australian Government context.
- Demonstrate the benefits of considering gender when designing policy, programs and services.
- Identify the subtle and overt ways that gender and other intersectional factors impact equality.

Considerations
- As this is a post-graduate microcredential, participants require:
- Undergraduate or 3 years professional experience, and
- Experience in policy design/implementation.
- Enrolments are direct through the UNSW website.

Accreditation/Award
Upon successful completion of the microcredential, participants:
- Will be awarded a digital badge from UNSW certifying their expertise.
- Will be given 2 credits from UNSW opening the door to the possibility of applying for academic credit in accordance with UNSWs credit and exemptions policy.
- Gain the opportunity to pursue further academic pathways beyond the current program.
