By Nicole Murphy, Leadership & Graduate Development, Australian Public Service Academy.
The APS Academy is introducing a new and innovative approach to capability development for Executive Level 2 (EL 2) employees across the Australian Public Service (APS).
The program is designed and delivered by APS practitioners and subject matter experts, for application in the APS. It offers a continuous learning approach with a focus on four APS-critical themes:
- integrity
- leadership & management
- new ways of working
- coaching and mentoring.
Delivered over 9 months, the cohort-based social learning model offers participants flexibility to learn in the flow of their work by providing flexibility in when content is accessed and when activities are undertaken. The program is delivered virtually.
The courses are delivered in cross-agency cohorts of up to 50 peers. Through facilitating sharing of learnings and experiences within these cohorts, the program drives deeper connections with content and supports practical application to embed learnings. It creates learning that sticks, while expanding professional networks to help participants contextualise their work within the broader view of the APS. This supports cross-agency consultation and collaboration on organisational and service-wide priorities.
Participants will join an enduring virtual community that provides them with ongoing exposure to the work and ways of working of other agencies and departments across the APS.
Given the investment already made by departments and agencies towards the design and development of this important initiative, the Academy is able to offer this initial program at a special rate of $700 per participant.
