By Louise Richter, APS Academy
The APS Academy is seeking input from staff and agencies across the APS to develop a Continuous Learning Implementation Guide and Toolkit.
The development of the guide and toolkit is driven by the need to:
- Develop a highly capable, agile and future-ready APS workforce
- Support learning through work, people, courses and resources
- Embed a continuous learning culture in the APS to enable learning at the speed of change.
Get involved!
If you or your agency have resources, templates or guidance to support and encourage continuous learning, learning agility or learning reflection, we would love to hear from you!
We are also looking to form a consultation group to progress development of the Implementation Guide and Toolkit, with a desire to share guidance across the APS by mid-2024.
If you are interested in either contributing resources, participating in the consultation group, or please email us if you have any questions.
We look forward to hearing from you.
What is Continuous Learning?
Continuous learning prepares us to adapt, deliver and perform in an ever-changing workforce. The APS Academy aims to drive a continuous learning culture and instil a continuous learning mindset across the APS.

You and your agency can contribute to APS capability uplift and development of an agile, adaptable and future-ready workforce by:
- recognising learning occurs continuously, often at the point of need
- providing learning opportunities through various channels, such as learning on the job, learning through people, resources and courses - this is the Continuous Learning Model
- supporting and encouraging staff to value learning and develop a learning mindset
- encouraging learning reflection and practice, to embed learning.
