The APS Academy is pleased to share a collection of resources and guidance material on Accessibility and Inclusive Design.
Australian Government services must meet the needs of the diverse users who interact with and rely on its services. Inclusive design ensures everyone, whether they are living with disability, are culturally or linguistically diverse, have limited digital ability or otherwise, can access and engage with information and services.
It is a legal requirement to ensure the Australian Government provides information and services that are usable and accessible to people with disabilities (see the Disability Discrimination Act 1992). Australian Government agencies are now required to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Level 2.1.
With 1 in 5 Australians living with disability and 1 in 6 Australians aged 65 years and over in our culturally diverse nation, designing with accessibility and inclusion in mind is essential.
