MasterCraft Series – What does the APS value of Stewardship look like in an agency?

Presenters

Marcus Markovic
Marcus is the Deputy Secretary for the Corporate and Enabling Services Group and Chief Operating Officer in the federal Department of Education.
Marcus has a long career in the Australian Public Service and has held senior finance and technology executive roles in the Department of Education, Department of Human Services, ComSuper and the Australian Taxation Office. He has extensive experience in leading large operational, finance and information technology teams and implementing change programs.
Marcus’ academic qualifications include a Master of Business Administration, Graduate Diploma (Information Systems) and Bachelor of Commerce. He is also a fellow of CPA Australia and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Clare McLean
Clare is the director of the Integrity & Ethics Team in the Australian Public Service Commission. The team provides ethical advice to APS employees, managers and leaders through the APS-wide Ethics Advisory Service; guides agencies on the practical application of the APS Values and Code of Conduct; fosters a pro-integrity culture in the APS; and supports the APS Commissioner in his statutory integrity functions.
Clare joined the APSC in June 2022 from Services Australia, where she was a deputy general counsel in the Corporate Law Branch. She has also held several principal lawyer positions in the Australian Government Departments of Education, Employment and Social Services, providing advice and solutions in the fields of employment, information, commercial and administrative law practice. She has a particular interest in tailoring and promoting best practice accountability and transparency measures within specific agency contexts, building integrity awareness and capability, and ensuring public trust in government through integrity-by-design program implementation and service delivery. Clare has a bachelor of arts and master of laws from the Australian National University.
