You will be producing emails every day in your role as an APS employee. Effective online communications will help ensure a more courteous, effective and professional organisation and reflect well on you as the author.

At work, many of us write more emails than any other sort of document. Most of us write emails every working day, yet many people feel unsure about what the correct email etiquette is and how to strike the right professional tone.

The use of an email generally sits somewhere between a conversation and a letter, and they are an official record. It is important to know when an email is the most appropriate form of communication, and how to maximise effectiveness when emailing.

This learning experience has been provided by Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment in response to COVID-19 through collaborative efforts to share a range of learning across the APS.
