MasterCraft Series – Shaping the policy of tomorrow with futures thinking

Hear from experts in strategic foresight from the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet as they discuss practical tools for making sense of disruptive change and translating insights about the future into actionable strategy.
Will Hartigan from the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet will be joined by expert colleagues from the Policy, Projects and Taskforce Office to present this event.
The event will include an opening message by Professor Glyn Davis AC, the Secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, and head of the Australian Public Service. Professor Davis will talk about the new APS value of Stewardship and the role of long-term thinking in policy work.

Will Hartigan
Will is a global expert in strategic foresight and futures, with roles leading strategic policy and Futures projects across multiple agencies during the past decade. He most recently led the Policy Fit for the Future project at PM&C, including co-developing the Australian Government Futures Primer with the Futures Hub at ANU. This role included delivering a wide range of Futures projects across the APS and developing a knowledge base of good practice, drawing from both Australian and global experts.
Will has a wide breadth of policy experience, with a focus on the innovation, geopolitical, entrepreneurship and technology policy spaces. He has also worked as an executive in the technology sector and consultant specialising in startup strategy, scenario planning and business growth, including work for both multinational companies and state governments.
