The Department of Finance are excited to announce the release of two new courses to be delivered under the Commonwealth Procurement and Contract Management Training Suite: Procurement for SES Delegates and Achieving Value for Money.
The Procurement for SES Delegates course, delivered by the Department of Finance, includes face-to-face and face-to-screen options, and is targeted at the SES Band 1-3 levels, free of charge. This course is suitable for SES delegates new to the APS, new to procurement, or who need a refresher. It will benefit officials who have procurement delegate responsibilities, whether regularly or on an ad hoc basis, or manage officials undertaking procurement activities or contract management.
Participant benefits for the Procurement for SES Delegates course include:
- Understanding the strategic roles and responsibilities of SES Delegates in the procurement process, and the broader considerations involved in conducting a procurement activity
- Insights into the decision-making processes and accountability mechanisms specific to SES-level delegates
- Improved ability to assess whether value for money has been achieved over the life of the contract
- Consideration of a more strategic resourcing model when conducting procurement activities
The Achieving Value for Money course, delivered by the Department of Finance, includes face-to-face and face-to-screen options, and is targeted at the APS1- EL2 levels, free of charge. This course is suitable for APS officials who are new to procurement, need a refresher, or want to move to a role in procurement. It will benefit APS working in procurement or contract management on an ad hoc basis, regular procurers and contract managers, or delegates.
Participant benefits for the Achieving Value for Money course include:
- Defining what value for money is in the context of government procurement
- Tips for when and how to assess value for money across the whole procurement lifecycle
- Strategies to ensure procurement decisions provide value for money, in alignment with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules
- Best practices for assessing and managing procurement risks to optimise outcomes
