The EL2 level has a critical role to play in lifting the data capabilities of the APS in all of these dimensions. In addition to their responsibility to show data leadership in their use of data in their own activities, EL2s have a number of leadership responsibilities including building organisational capability and responsiveness, marshalling professional expertise, and harnessing information and opportunities. EL2s are also required to help raise the reputation of the entire public service, including by demonstrating professionalism and probity.

This course is designed to enhance data leadership knowledge and capability, focusing on the role data plays in the work of the public service and critical issues that impact on the availability, integrity and use of data. The course is pitched at EL2s in the APS, working in policy, regulatory, corporate, service delivery and other roles. That is, those that might not otherwise see themselves as Data Professionals.

This learning experience has been created by the Australian National University (ANU) in partnership with the APS Data Profession.

Considerations

  • The course is designed around 8 modules of 2 hours each. It is recommended that participants spend approximately 2 hours prior to the course familiarising themselves with material and completing some initial readings if possible.
  • ANU will send out course material to enrolled participants via email before the course commences.

Note: This course has an optional micro-credential that can be obtained at an additional cost of $314. To successfully attain the micro-credential there is a requirement to complete additional assessment tasks.
